William Shakespeare (1564-1616) is the evergreen playwright in the history of English literature. Macbeth’s soliloquies play a very important role in the play, Macbeth.
Introduce of soliloquy:
A soliloquy is a kind of “dialogue with the self.” Etymologically it means, “speaking while one is alone.” it happens When a character, speaks alone on the stage. A character in a drama expresses his secret thoughts and feelings in a soliloquy. There are quite a number of soliloquies in the play Macbeth most of these are made by Macbeth himself but there are a few by Lady Macbeth, Banque and lady Macduff.

The significance of Macbeth’s soliloquies:
Macbeth kills the king in accordance with the plan of Lady Macbeth. At first, Macbeth does not want to kill the king but under the mental pressure of his wife, he has killed the king. when Macbeth was going to kill the sleeping Duncan his soliloquy started. Here he sees a bloody dagger as a reflection of the murder that is a hallucination. After killing the king come Macbeth looks at his hand. It was covered with blood. He feels a sense of guilt that all the water of the great ocean cannot wash his hand’s blood. The blood on his hand can be redded, and the whole ocean. After discovering the dead body, he cannot believe his own eyes. Then Macbeth killed two bodyguards of the king because of removing his sin. And then Macbeth and his wife represent them as innocent as babies. Macduff firstly discovers the dead body. Then Malcolm and Donalbain decide to flee because they think that they will be the next target of the killer of their father. Malcolm goes to England and Donalbain goes to Ireland. Because of their escape, everybody thinks that they have killed their father. Then as the nearest person to the Duncan king, Macbeth has been the new king of Scotland.
There are two brief soliloquies that Macbeth makes on the battlefield before he is killed. In one he compares himself to a trapped animal- a bear tied to a stake and baited by dogs. In the other soliloquy, he expresses the determination to go ahead and fight and not kill himself. He is killed by Macduff. Thus, Shakespeare uses soliloquies to reveal the inner state of the character.
Conclusion:
Finally, we can say that Macbeth’s soliloquy gives us a message that sin must be punished. Illegally acquired wealth and power never last. So, we should always lead our life in the right way from the right path.
