There is a saying that love can bring a man down as well as lift a man. It depends on the type and degree of love. But according to the author, it is quite impossible to love and be wise at the same time. He thinks that a man cannot be wise for two reasons. First, love makes a lover a man of flattery, he gives his all to his beloved. He lives in complete surrender to his beloved. This dependent lifestyle acts as the biggest obstacle to enlightenment. Secondly, love raises pride in a lover. Pride in the belongingness of someone makes him blind. Because of this blindness, he is unable to evaluate other people and things rightly in his surroundings. From these two points of view, the author Bacon seems that it is impossible at the same time to be wise and love.
Conclusion: Both flattery and pride come to man through the way of love the love that brings the weakness of a person. So, a lover should not cross his or her limits in expressing love.
