The force that is illustrated by Dylan Thomas (1914-1953) in his poem “The force that through the green fuse drives the flower” is the powerful force that runs the whole universe including man. This force is responsible for the creation and destruction. It occurs not only in the human world but in the world of animals and vegetables. Dylan Thomas says,

Critics refer that this force may be the “Life Force” of G B Shaw. Again, they give the concept that this force may be a sexual urge. It helps to drive forward the universal circle. Undoubtedly sexual urge is a powerful and supreme source of nature and the human body. Dylan Thomas illustrated the life force as a mechanical process by the use of the word “Fuse” in the very opening line of the poem.
