The theme of loneliness in Nausea

Introduction
Loneliness is the most influential theme of the novel Nausea. We have been confirmed that because of extreme loneliness, Roquentine’s feeling of Nausea comes out.
No existence of relationship
As we know that Roquentine has no friends, family, companions, neighbors even no girlfriends. This term makes us conscious that loneliness is the only companion of the protagonist. He quotes;
“I live alone, entirely alone. I never speak to anyone, never; I receive nothing, I give nothing.”
He has spent almost three years without any companions with loneliness for his research work on the biography of Marquise in Bouville. He was in a great relationship with Anny, an English actress. But that was the long past almost 6 years ago. When he starts to feel something strange, he just wants to come out from this. We can say loneliness is one of the reasons of nausea feeling. After doing his research on Marquise for 10 years on an inhabitant less place, but finally he can realize that there is no value of making time wastage on those things that are in the long past. But now he is so much tired because of loneliness. He feels that he needs some companions to cure this loneliness. That’s why he tries to reconnect with his old girlfriend, Anny but she also denies. He makes himself aware of his loneliness. So he quoted;
“For the first time, I am disturbed at being alone”.
Starkly rejected by girlfriend and others
He tries to cure himself of the bloody loneliness because he cannot take it anymore. He didn’t find anyone to tell his nausea feeling. When he goes to Anny and tries to tell her all this matter, Anny denies understanding all these things. Even she rejects his proposal of making their relationship together again. So from this incident, he cannot throw away his loneliness.

Again, he goes to Bouville library to meet a man referred to in this novel as a self-taught man. Self-taught plans to read all the books of Bouville library according to alphabetical order. When Roquentine discloses this matter to the self-taught man, he doesn’t want to understand him too. On the other hand, the self-taught man is also kicked out from Bouville library because of sexual activities with a schoolboy.
Finally, he goes to Francoise to meet for the last time. Francoise was a bar maid with whom Roquentine had a sexual relationship. But last day, Francoise was busy with another customer that’s why she doesn’t give so much time to Roquentine. From all these incidents, we can realize that every possibility of throwing away his loneliness becomes destructed and there is no way to make a companion.
Conclusion
There was no one to cure him before even not now. Finally, he decides to go to Paris to write a novel about what he feels to be free from nausea.
